A former Super Bowl champion comments on Micah Parsons’ situation with the Dallas Cowboys

While the contract drama between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys continues to generate uncertainty, a recognized football figure has come to his defense. Adrew Whitworth, former Rams offensive tackle and Super Bowl LVI winner, appeared at the joint practice between the Cowboys and Los Angeles in Oxnar, California, and accompanied Parsons during the day.

In statements to The Rich Eisen Show, Whitworth stated that his presence was not accidental: “I just reached out to him to see how he was doing. This game can be very stressful. These contract situations are not fun, man. They’re very hard on players.” The veteran stressed the emotional pressure these negotiations entail and the toll they take on key players like Micah, who has been absent from active practice to avoid sanctions

Former Rams lineman criticizes Cowboys’ handling of Parsons

Whitworth also shared details of his conversation with Parsons, revealing that the linebacker wants to stay with the team, mainly to support young talent:

He feels like he wants to be out there with his teammates having fun. He was talking to me about the young guys and some of the young runners that he can’t help. He’s looking forward to teaching them a couple of things, and they’re very promising

However, the former lineman did not hide his criticism of the Cowboys, pointing to a lack of clear leadership and questioning the team’s management during the process: “It seems like a very long, drawn-out process with the Cowboys. Listen, the Cowboys, after watching that workout, clearly desperately need it. They seem like a bit of a frustrated team. Who are our leaders? Who are the ones who set the tone for how we compete and train on a daily basis?“

Cowboys under pressure to resolve Micah Parsons’ future before season opener

The tension surrounding Parsons’ contractual future could affect the team if it is not resolved soon and with the start of the NFL season very close, time is ticking for the management led by Jerry Jones, who has yet to secure an extension for one of its most valuable players.

The first regular season challenge is scheduled for September 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles and the question is whether Parsons will arrive at that game with a contract resolved or whether the drama will continue to affect the atmosphere in the locker room. For now, outside figures are beginning to become more visible and some are coming from champions who know what it takes to win in the NFL.
