A former New York Jets scout compared Cam Ward to Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes and Michael Jordan and motivated Titans fans

After Cam Ward was taken with the long-awaited first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, the quarterback has been the subject of multiple comparisons.

Ward’s skill and agility made his name sound along with that of Patrick Mahomes, who has been performing at the position for years. But for the former New York Jets scout, Cam also reminded him of another player besides Patt.

Daniel Kelly did not hide his fascination for Ward and using his official X account, he did not hesitate to praise him: “I think Titans fans have a lot to be excited about with Cam Ward”, he started saying.

He also assured that in his last three college seasons -two at Washington State and one at the University of Miami- he maintained a “first-round” grade. In the same vein, Kelly did not hesitate to compare him to his peers:

The first two seasons I studied him at Washington State he reminded me of Jalen Hurts. Last season, he reminded me of Patrick Mahomes while playing for the Hurricanes.

Ward’s qualities don’t end

Continuing with the praise, Kelly mentioned that the QB has the ability to adapt to new environments and possesses great qualities: “he’s aggressive, smart, athletic, creative, competitive, and uber-confident”.

As if this were not enough, he highlighted a long list of 32 positive traits that, according to him, Ward already possesses and that make him “successful in the NFL”. Among them are: “mature, commanding presence, high-level Communicator, top shelf escapability, quick reflexes, sees the field well, doesn’t look discouraged when his team is behind on the scoreboard” and perhaps one of the most important and one that any team would look for: “low injury risk“.

To end his praise for Ward, Daniel Kelly closed with a flourish: comparing him to one of the NBA’s greatest figures:

I’ve rarely seen a quarterback or any player for that matter play with the level of confidence Cam Ward showed early last season at Miami. Honestly, I haven’t seen any player in any sport play with that level of confidence since Michael Jordan.

.

After such words, we can’t help but think that Cam Ward will put on at least an interesting show to watch, but if you want to play it safe, you should go with Kelly’s words, “I won’t suggest betting against him.”
