2026 World Cup will be a sell-out: FIFA confirms tickets are sold out

There are just over 100 days to go until the biggest and most ambitious World Cup in history, co-hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada. People from all over the world have tried to get tickets for one of the 104 matches of the World Cup, which has meant an exaggerated demand for many of the games, resulting in sold-out spaces to enjoy the matches of the World Cup live

FIFA president Gianni Infantinoconfirmed the resounding success of the World Cup with tickets, saying that the 2026 World Cup is a commercial success and will surely also be a footballing success.

Gianni Infantino confirms sell-out of all 104 matches for 2026 World Cup

According to the FIFA president, the 104 matches that will be played in the World Cup in United States, Mexico and Canada with the participation of 48 teams are completely sold out, setting new attendance records in the history of world sport.

In the same statement, the FIFA president highlighted the commercial success of the tournament, saying that demand for tickets was overwhelming, with more than 508 million ticket requests in just four weeks during the main sales phase, when only 7 million seats were available, all of which were sold out.

Gianni also commented that requests for tickets came from more than 200 countries, demonstrating the global reach of soccer. Infantino also commented that 77 of the 104 World Cup matches received more than one million requests each, numbers that are far removed from historical highs, leaving behind any previous edition of the World Cup.

Did all the tickets for the 2026 World Cup really sell out?

Although the FIFA president said that each match no longer has tickets available, there is a very important point to clarify and that is that FIFA intentionally withholds a portion of tickets for a last-minute sales phase

This phase will begin in April and run until the end of the tournament on July 19, 2026. With this strategy, FIFA allows the remaining tickets to be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while the previous phases have already allocated a large proportion of all available tickets.
