After three weeks of March Madness, the NCAA men’s basketball national champion has been decided! A pair of No. 1 seeds, Houston and Florida, battled it out and the Gators emerged victorious. They trailed for the majority of the night, but completed a late comeback and eked out a 65-63 win.
It was the third title in program history for Florida and the first under head coach Todd Golden. He earned the head coaching job in 2022 and used the transfer portal to author a quick turnaround. The crown jewel was Walter Clayton Jr., who averaged 22.3 points throughout the NCAA Tournament and won Final Four Most Outstanding Player, but as he struggled in the national championship, his teammates picked him up.
The Gators came out on top and cut down the nets.
Here were the highlights from Monday’s championship game!
