The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup kicked off on Saturday with defending champions Mexico beating the Dominican Republic 3-2 in the opening match of the tournament at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Mexico came into the tournament in good form, winning three of its last four matches, including the Concacaf Nations League final against Panama in March. The Dominican Republic was on a hot streak of its own, scoring five goals in its last match against Dominica.
