The annual Red River Rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners had a WNBA star in the crowd.

Paige Bueckers finished her first year in the league and with the Dallas Wings in style, becoming the 2025 Rookie of the Year. Taking advantage of the offseason, the 23-year-old point guard continues to enjoy her free time and made an appearance at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas.

Bueckers present for Texas victory

The Longhorns were coming off a 29-21 loss to Florida that knocked them out of the AP Top 25, so a victory was imperative. And they got it.

In a game that ended 23-6, Arch Manning stole the show, finishing with 21 completions on 27 attempts for 166 yards, one touchdown, and 34 rushing yards, leading Texas to a much-needed victory over the Sooners.

However, in the crowd, more than 92,000 fans were also watching Wings star Paige Bueckers.

Although she has no direct ties to either team, it is presumed that she attended the game as a local fan since she not only resides in Dallas, but also made a gesture that drove Longhorns fans wild.

The ROTY appeared on ABC’s broadcast alongside Holly Rowe and commented with amazement on the energy of the crowd. However, she also made the iconic Texas “Horns upgesture, showing her support for the local crowd.

Meanwhile, Paige is coming off a great year after winning the NCAA title with UConn and being selected with the first pick in the draft by the Wings. In addition, Bueckers became one of only 10 rookies to start in the All-Star Game, win Rookie of the Year, and average 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals in 36 games with Dallas.

Now, she will remain active this offseason as she continues to showcase her talent in January at Unrivaled Basketball, the league co-founded in 2023 by Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier and New York Liberty’s Breanna Stewart.
