Ronald Koeman has been trying for months to get Barcelona to focus on the new Dutch star, Kees Smit. However, the AZ Alkmaar player seems to be spoiled for choice when it comes to potential suitors in the next transfer market, and one of them could be Real Madrid.
“He’s a mix between Pedri and De Jong,” Koeman said a few days ago. And in that line remains Rafael Van der Vaart. The former Real Madrid player also surrenders to the young talent of 20 years who is emerging in the Eredivisie. “He is simply an incredibly good player. We often rush to label someone as good, but in this case he is really good,” said the former footballer on Ziggo Sport’s ‘Rondo’ program.

Van der Vaart is clear where the player will end up. “If he continues to progress like this, he will definitely end up at Real Madrid or one of the biggest clubs in the world, which for me is Real Madrid,” he added.
The former player is aware that Smit still has room to grow as a footballer, but he has no doubt about his enormous potential and maturity despite his young age: “He is still a down-to-earth person. He doesn’t let himself be pressured, at least I don’t see it that way. In addition, he gives good interviews, he handles himself well.”
