Stan Wawrinka ended 2025 by announcing that this would be his last season as a professional. At 40 years of age, the Lausanne-born tennis player will hang up his racket. The Swiss, who also serves as captain, defeated the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech and came from a set down to win 5-7, 7-6(5), 7-6(5) in three hours and 18 minutes.
The victory allows him to reach 23 seasons with matches won on the circuit, equalling the record of Rafael Nadal. Ahead of him are only Jimmy Connors (25) and Roger Federer and Richard Gasquet (24)
Switzerland beats France
