Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is now in a court fight with his long-time girlfriend Hallie Aiono.

She has gone to court in Los Angeles County to fil a petition about seeking to prove that he is the dad of her yet unborn child. She is demanding to secure custody and financial support.

The court papers were filed on June 16, 2025, just a short time after the pair let everyone know they were going to have a baby with a video in May.

Aiono, who is now 19 weeks pregnant, wants the court to:

  • Say Nacua is the father
  • Let her keep the child most of the time, but let Nacua visit
  • Let them both make choices for the child’s school and health
  • Make Nacua pay for costs tied to the baby and lawyer fees

A quick switch in their relationship

The court move has shocked many fans, as the pair seemed fine as late as May. Aiono put up big heart posts on Instagram, with baby scan pics and photos of her with a big belly, writing: “You were something we always dreamt of, but I have never been so afraid… I know your timing is divine.”

Yet, the court papers show things have changed a lot. While Aiono does not want to cut Nacua off from the child’s life, her wish for full care and money help shows she wants to be the main one to raise the child.

Nacua’s guilty silence

As of now, Nacua has kept quiet about the court move, she has not made any public statements. If he fights the claim that he is the dad, the court may ask for a DNA test after the baby is born. His people have either said nothing about it yet.

This adds to Nacua’s issues off the field, as he starts his third year in the NFL. After a top first year in 2023 and a strong next year, he is set to be a key playmaker for the Rams after Cooper Kupp left.

Tough times approach

Nacua has talked about how much he wants to be a present dad, saying in a May podcast interview: “I came from a big family. I need five boys for sure. But also, I want to be a part of their lives and be as active as I can with them.

Now, what he wants could be shaped by what happens in court and talks about who keeps the child. As the time to get in shape again is near, this court fight could be a big thing to handle for one of the NFL’s bright new stars.
