The Giants’ backfield has become a real puzzle for football fans and fantasy players alike

With the arrival of new pieces to the team, fantasy coaches must decide wisely: should they bet on the explosiveness and recent experience of Tyrone Tracy Jr. or take a chance on the physical potential of rookie Cam Skattebo?

The New York Giants had an intense offseason: they signed Russell Wilson as their main quarterback, added Jameis Winston and drafted Jaxson Dart. But the biggest debate is in the backfield, where two talented players with different styles are vying for playing time.

On the one hand, Tyrone Tracy Jr., who already had an interesting sample in his first full year as a running back, and on the other, Cam Skattebo, a rookie who is coming off a blistering collegiate campaign with more than 2,300 combined yards.

Both players have characteristics that could shine in the New York Giants’ offensive system, but they also present challenges for fantasy managers to consider.

Tyrone Tracy Jr., the receiver turned dual threat

Tracy is a former wide receiver who converted to running back, which gives him added value in PPR (point per reception) leagues. His quickness, vision and ability to find space have positioned him as the favorite to start the season with an important role, especially in third down and passing situations.

Why choose Tracy in fantasy?

  • Greater experience in the system
  • Solid aerial use
  • Clear role in passing plays
  • Selected in middle rounds (Round 10 approx.)

Cam Skattebo, the rookie with power and hunger for minutes

LAPRESSE

Skattebo arrives at the Giants with impressive college numbers: more than 1,700 rushing yards, 600 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns in total. His style is reminiscent of Josh Jacobs: strong, determined and with a natural ability to break tackles.

Fantasy projection 2025: Who is the best bet?

Both running backs have viable paths to fantasy relevance, but their profiles fit different types of managers:

  • Tyrone Tracy Jr. is ideal for PPR leagues and for those looking for safety from the start of the season. His experience and involvement in passing plays gives him a stable floor.
  • Cam Skattebo is a higher ceiling bet. If he manages to establish himself in the first few weeks, he could take over the lead role in carries and dominate in the red zone, becoming a fantasy gem in the second half of the season.

The Giants could become a fantasy goldmine… or a headache if the rotation is not defined early. Tracy is the safe bet from the start, but Skattebo has all the tools to take over in the medium term.
