The Baltimore Ravens are still searching for a new head coach following John Harbaugh’s departure after 18 legendary years, and among all the head-coaching candidates across the league, they’ve zeroed in on a name who has already worked wonders with one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks.
Top head-coaching candidate for the Ravens
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Ravens have scheduled an interview with Joe Brady, currently the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.
Brady will meet with Baltimore and the Atlanta Falcons on January 18-one day after the Bills play their Divisional Round playoff game against the Denver Broncos.
Brady joins a long list of head-coaching candidates the Ravens have already interviewed. In recent days, the franchise has met with former Ravens defensive backs coach and current Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, as well as former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel.
The Ravens aim to name just the fourth head coach in franchise history as soon as possible, hoping to get ahead of the eight remaining head-coaching vacancies across the NFL. Meanwhile, the New York Giants became the latest team to fill their opening by hiring John Harbaugh.
Brady has served as the Bills’ offensive coordinator since January 2024, though he initially took over on an interim basis in 2023 following the departure of Ken Dorsey, after originally joining the staff as the quarterbacks coach.
Under Brady’s leadership, Josh Allen captured the 2024 NFL MVP award, throwing for 3,668 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions, while adding 579 rushing yards and an incredible 14 rushing touchdowns.
The big question now: could Brady be the perfect head-coaching fit to unlock the full potential of Lamar Jackson’s offense? The Ravens’ decision could shape the future of the franchise-and the answer may come sooner rather than later.
