Singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran recently spoke about his enduring friendship with pop superstar Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, in statements that could potentially cause trouble for the couple.
At least that’s what many might think upon hearing the performer detail his friendship with the singer on the Call Her Daddy podcast, especially when he refers to the long tours they shared.
Ed Sheeran’s Statements
Though it was a long time ago, Sheeran fondly recalls the time he was the opening act for Swift on the Red tour.
Sheeran, who supported Swift during the Red tour, spoke warmly about the six months he spent on the road with her.
“I literally spent almost every single day with her for about six months,” he said. “I lived in Nashville, and she lived in Nashville, and we used to fly to and from the gigs together.”
When referring to those moments, he felt a deep sense of nostalgia, as he has revisited text messages and voice notes from that time when they seemed ‘inseparable.’
“I think that period of time, I do, you know, I see her when I see her,” he explained.
Despite not being as close now, he revealed that they do make time to stay in touch, even meeting in person.
“I probably see her like four times a year and we do what I said, like proper sit-down, six-hour catch-ups,” he revealed. “I think that’s a really nice way to do it.”
Though they don’t see each other as often anymore, their friendship remains very strong. We can recall their most recent encounter at Wembley Stadium during Swift’s Eras tour in August 2024.
At that moment, Sheeran made a surprise appearance where he and Taylor Swift performed some of their hits together, including ‘Everything Has Changed’ from the Red album.
