Trade speculation continues to follow Maxx Crosby as the Chicago Bears remain loosely connected to the star pass rusher despite earlier hesitation to pursue a deal. Back in March, Chicago reportedly explored acquiring Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders but ultimately stopped short of making a serious push to finalize an agreement.
The situation quickly became more complicated. Crosby was briefly dealt to the Baltimore Ravens in what appeared to be a major move, but the trade was reversed after concerns emerged about his health. That unexpected twist sent Crosby back to Las Vegas, where he has since expressed a strong commitment to the franchise.
Even so, the nature of the NFL means that stability is often temporary, and high-profile players like Crosby rarely stay out of trade rumors for long.
With the 2026 NFL Draft approaching, his name has resurfaced in speculation, this time tied once again to Chicago. While nothing concrete has developed, the idea of a draft-day trade has generated buzz. For the Bears, adding a proven defensive end could significantly strengthen their pass rush and reshape their defensive identity heading into the new season.
Draft buzz rekindles trade possibilities
In a recent analysis piece, NFL writer Jake Beckman outlined several players who could be moved during the draft, placing Crosby among the most intriguing candidates. He pointed to the Bears as a particularly strong fit, suggesting the timing could favor a deal if Chicago chooses to act decisively.
Beckman argued that Crosby‘s trade value dipped when the Ravens deal collapsed, but that dip may not last long. If Crosby returns to form early in the season, his market could heat up quickly, especially if other edge rushers across the league suffer injuries.
“If/when they do trade him, it’s never going to be for two first-round picks like the Ravens were offering, but it would be for a first-round pick and maybe a round two or three pick,” wrote Beckman.
From the Raiders’ perspective, moving Crosby could still be on the table, even if the expected return has shifted. That adjustment could make negotiations more appealing for teams that were previously hesitant.
Chicago is not alone in monitoring the situation. The Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills have also been mentioned as possible suitors, adding another layer of competition to any potential talks.
Whether the Bears revisit their interest may come down to leadership philosophy under head coach Ben Johnson. Known for his composed and calculated approach, Johnson may be reluctant to pursue a blockbuster move unless it clearly aligns with the team’s long-term plan.
Still, the unpredictability of draft night leaves the door open for surprises, and Crosby‘s name remains one to watch closely.
