The Los Angeles Dodgers have in their defense one of the aspects that worries them the most in the battle to stay at the top of the National League West. The end of the season is closer than ever, and these details are what could make the difference, and Dave Roberts knows it.

In this regard, players like right fielder Teoscar Hernández need to improve, as the team’s manager pointed out, albeit with great respect.

Dave Roberts calls on Teoscar Hernández to improve

Dave Roberts says the Dominican sometimes plays with a “governor” to try to perform better offensively, but we’ve reached a point in the season where he needs to set that aside and compete at 100%.

Dave Roberts used the NFL to better explain his viewpoint on the Dominican’s effort, though he doesn’t intend to condemn him with his criticism.

“I don’t want to condemn him for it. His value is to be out there,”Roberts said. “He’s 32. He’s playing outfield. You can’t have every NFL receiver who is 30 years old run perfect full-on routes. They’ve got to manage it a little bit. I could say, everything is the last play of the World Series or the Super Bowl. But I’m trying to have a little more sympathy and understanding.”

This aspect of the player helped him when he returned from a groin injury in May, maintaining his offensive production, but now they need him more than ever on defense.

“People are always going to say something when something bad happens,” Hernández said. “I’ve got to deal with it, try to get better, try to make the plays. That’s the only thing I can do-try, try, keep trying, try harder if I have to. Keep moving forward.”
