The boxing world never ceases to offer surprises and great fights, and the recent victory of Oleksandr Usyk was no exception. After defending his heavyweight titles with a dominant knockout of Daniel Dubois in five rounds at Wembley, the Ukrainian champion found himself in a peculiar situation: a fight challenge from Jake Paul. Most surprisingly, Usyk is apparently willing to do it and it would be under different “rules.”

The face-off in the ring between Paul and Usyk has once again installed rumors of a possible matchup. After his victory last month over former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Paul is once again enjoying maximum relevance. He is currently ranked number 14 in the cruiserweight division according to the WBA and in what seems to be a bold move, he would be looking to line up a fight with Anthony Joshua for next year.

Cage fight?

The post-fight scene at Wembley was dominated not only by Usyk’s emphatic triumph, but also by his surprise face-off with Jake Paul. While the undisputed champion was celebrating, Paul stormed into the ring to stare him down defiantly and spark rumors of a possible fight.

Via social media, Paul wrote: “Congratulations to one of the greatest heavyweights of all time @usykaa on a great victory. I respect you very much. Now we will do an MMA fight for the world”, so the challenge is already set, but it would not be a boxing match, but one in a cage.

Usyk’s response

In a brief interaction with the media, Usyk was quite clear about the chances of upcoming fights. “Yes, I’m ready, but I need to rest,” commented the boxer, who is not closing himself off to anything, but knows that for now he must take a little time to recover. The face-to-face in the ring with Jake Paul and the proposed fight in an MMA fight is made, but for now they are only speculations that time will confirm.

It is no surprise that Jake Paul is keen to stage all kinds of events and on this occasion the proposal has excited fans. However, it all depends on Usyk and whether he really wants to face one of the most controversial boxers of today in a fight that would have different rules and would be inside a cage.
