George Kittle‘s offseason has already delivered a memory he’ll likely cherish forever, a spontaneous singalong with Taylor Swift. The San Francisco 49ers‘ charismatic tight end was in Nashville last month to kick off Tight End University (TEU), the annual NFL summit for tight ends he co-founded with Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen. But this year, the football-focused gathering had an unexpected twist when pop superstar Taylor Swift joined the festivities.

Kittle recounted the surreal experience in an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco ahead of this weekend’s American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. He detailed how an ordinary welcome party turned into an unforgettable night of drinks, Broadway lights, and an impromptu duet to Swift’s beloved anthem, “Love Story.”

“That was a fun one,” Kittle said. “We have a fun Monday night welcome party at our hotel in Nashville for Tight End University, and Taylor and Travis came, and they’re like, ‘Hey, do you guys want to go to Broadway?’ And I was like, ‘I would love to go to Broadway with you guys.'”

As Kittle described it, he was mid-conversation with Swift, handing her and his wife Claire their drinks, when the unexpected happened.

“I just got to tell [Swift] that ‘Love Story’ is one of my favorite songs, definitely my favorite Taylor Swift song,” Kittle continued. “And as I was telling her, it came on the speakers, and I was like, ‘I’m not going to miss this opportunity.’ You don’t get to sing ‘Love Story’ with Taylor Swift very often.”

What followed was a lively and widely shared moment on social media – Kittle, Swift, and Kelce belting out lyrics to an eight-times platinum hit in a crowded Nashville venue. It was raw, joyful, and unforgettable for everyone involved.

TEU’s Nashville backdrop becomes the stage for a viral crossover moment

Tight End University, which began in 2021 as a space for tight ends to build camaraderie and sharpen their craft, has quickly grown into one of the NFL’s premier offseason events. It blends skill development with fun and bonding, and this year’s edition was especially buzzworthy thanks to Swift’s presence.

While Travis Kelce and Swift have been one of the most talked-about celebrity couples of the past year, their appearance at TEU showed a more relaxed, grounded side to both stars. They mingled with NFL players and participated in the kind of off-the-field experiences that make events like TEU so impactful.

Kittle, whose energy and authenticity are well-known among football fans, clearly relished the moment. “It was just an absolute riot and something I’ll probably remember forever,” he said.
