Taylor Swift‘s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has become part of a bold conspiracy theory, with claims that the NFL will not allow the team to continue losing as their season struggles mount.

The team has begun the 2025 NFL campaign in uncharacteristic fashion, losing both opening games to the Los Angeles Chargers and the Philadelphia Eagles as their offense struggles.

With limited quality receiving options and a practically non-existent running game, Patrick Mahomes is struggling to find targets or hand-off opportunities, making the Chiefs pretty routine to stifle.

Their 0-2 start has placed them at the bottom of the AFC standings and Mahomes has suffered back-to-back defeats to start a season for the first time in his career.

Now as Kansas City prepare to face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium this weekend, speculation has intensified around the team’s fortunes-and not just from a sporting perspective.

On ESPN Radio New York, veteran analyst Don La Greca, 57, made an extraordinary claim that the league will not allow Kansas City to lose a third consecutive game.

“NFL is not going to allow the Chiefs to start 0-3,” La Greca said. “There’s too much on the line, I’m sorry.

“Call me a conspiracy theorist. ESPN can fire me. The NFL is not going to allow the Kansas City Chiefs to lose that game on national television and be 0-3. What are you gonna do?

“I’m telling you, there’s gonna be at least three calls where we’re going to be like, “‘How did that happen?'”

How is Taylor Swift involved?

Central to the theory are Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, who have generated a new wave of attention for the NFL – particularly when it comes to capturing younger female fans of the game.

La Greca suggested that the Chiefs’ position carries more than sporting consequences, implying the NFL has a vested interest in ensuring KC remains relevant. He went further by speculating that officiating decisions could tilt in their favor.

His remarks followed Kelce’s costly drop in the Super Bowl LIX rematch against the Eagles, when he failed to secure a potential touchdown in the fourth quarter of a 20-17 loss.

For La Greca, the connection between Kelce’s high-profile relationship and the NFL’s global marketing efforts makes Kansas City’s success a matter of league business.

“[Kelce and Swift] are getting married later,” La Greca added. “They’re engaged.

“The league just won’t allow it. Honestly, people, rise up, speak our minds here.”

Chiefs dismiss Tyreek Hill rumor

The Chiefs‘ offensive struggles have added fuel to conspiracy talk. Suspensions and injuries have deprived Mahomes of his key wide receivers, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy.

In their absence, the quarterback has been forced to rely on scrambling to extend plays, while his targets have failed to provide the explosiveness that once defined Kansas City’s passing game.

Speculation about a potential reunion with former wide receiver Tyreek Hill was also raised, with some fans suggesting that the Miami Dolphins star could be available if his current team falters further.

However, according to The Athletic, Kansas City is not expected to pursue a deal, focusing instead on reintegrating Rice and Worthy.
