Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift‘s engagement announcement nearly broke the internet in late August.

But while their romance has played out publicly, the couple is intent on keeping their wedding day behind closed doors.

A source told People on Tuesday that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the pop superstar are arranging a ceremony that will emphasize intimacy over spectacle.

“It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” the source said. “They both have a close circle of friends, and they’ll respect their privacy.”

The decision mirrors the approach of another NFL-Hollywood pairing: Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and actress Hailee Steinfeld, who opted to shield their wedding plans from the public eye.

From viral proposal to Rhode Island whispers

Kelce and Swift revealed their engagement on August 26 with a joint Instagram post that sent Swift‘s global fan base into a frenzy.

Alongside photos of Kelce proposing in a lush outdoor setting, Swift captioned the post, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The announcement immediately became one of the most talked-about celebrity moments of the year.

Speculation about their wedding venue has since centered on Swift‘s $38 million oceanfront estate in Westerly, Rhode Island. Known as “Holiday House,” the mansion has long been a gathering spot for her famous Fourth of July parties and even inspired her 2020 song The Last Great American Dynasty.

Reports from Page Six and Realtor.com noted that the property recently underwent extensive renovations, making it a viable option for a secluded event. The chatter even prompted Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee to weigh in on social media with a string of shifty-eye emojis, fueling curiosity about whether Swift and Kelce are planning to tie the knot there.

Kelce and Swift‘s relationship, which began in 2023, has become one of the most prominent crossovers between sports and entertainment. From sideline appearances to global tour stops, the couple has lived much of their romance in public view.

Their choice to keep their wedding private underscores a desire to reclaim some control over a story that has captivated millions.
