The atmosphere at Wrigley Field was electric as the Chicago Cubs secured a narrow 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Yet the real highlight of the day wasn’t the score; it was the appearance of Darth Vader himself, better known as Hayden Christensen, who had the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch.
The Star Wars actor clearly enjoyed the outing, appearing on cameras throughout the stadium and on live television. Spotted cheering alongside his daughter, Hayden Christensen shared a playful moment with his sibling that captured the attention of fans both in Wrigley Field and watching from home.
Hayden Christensen and the first pitch
Christensen is best known for his iconic role in Star Wars, where he portrayed one of the saga’s central characters, and perhaps one of cinema’s most infamous villains. This time, however, the actor showcased a different side of himself: that of a sports fan enjoying the game.
He appeared on the mound to a huge wave of applause, dressed head-to-toe in Chicago Cubs colors: a light blue team jersey, a Cubs cap, white sneakers, and black jeans, completing the fan-favorite look.
However, for movie fans, the most attention-grabbing detail was Christensen’s jersey number, 66, a nod to Star Wars: Episode III, where the number also references Order 66, the infamous command that turned the clone army against the Jedi, making it a clever Easter egg for fans of the franchise.
Hayden delivered the first pitch with surprising accuracy, tossing the ball directly to the Cubs’ mascot. He then turned to the stands to enjoy the game alongside his 10-year-old daughter, Briar Rose, sharing smiles and playful moments with her throughout the match.
The Moment shared by Hayden Christensen
What captured everyone’s attention was the moment the stadium cameras focused on them. The scene was both tender and charming as father and daughter sang the classic “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” together.
It didn’t matter when a jet trailing blue smoke roared over the stadium, momentarily silencing them; they continued their duet undisturbed, singing and savoring the moment even after the plane passed.
The moment seemed to inspire the Cubs, who secured a victory against the Pirates in a game that will be remembered not just for the score but for the heartwarming bond between Hayden Christensen and his daughter, celebrated with a song that drew thunderous applause.
