Father Angel left a conciliatory reflection with a social background when asked in El Larguero about Vinicius’ gesture towards Xabi Alonso at the moment of his substitution. Far from entering into sporting controversies, the priest proposed a symbolic “penance”: to go one day to serve breakfast in the Church of San Anton, a regular space for the care of vulnerable people. “Come one day to give breakfast at the Church of San Anton and all the evils will be removed,” he said.

During the conversation, Father Angel linked such gestures to the human condition and moments of excessive pride. In this sense, he downplayed the episode by pointing out that similar behavior is part of attitudes that are common in society.

The comment also turned to the role of demands in elite soccer and player management. In a relaxed tone, he mentioned the figure of Florentino Perez, whom he attributed a way of managing more based on support than punishment, although he considered that it is not superfluous to maintain a high level of demand.

Father Angel’s speech ended with a general reflection on the need to educate from the balance between understanding and responsibility, also in professional sports, where public exposure amplifies any gesture and makes it the subject of debate.
