As the countdown to the 2025 WNBA season continues, Sophie Cunningham is making the most of her final days away from the court. The 28-year-old guard is preparing for her first campaign with the Indiana Fever, where she will team up with rising superstar Caitlin Clark following her offseason trade from the Phoenix Mercury.

Cunningham has spent her entire career to date with Phoenix after being selected out of the University of Missouri in the 2019 WNBA Draft.

Now, she joins a Fever team eager to make a statement, adding valuable experience and shooting depth to a roster built around young talent.

But before the hard work of training camp begins, Cunningham took a moment to share her life away from basketball.

Cunningham enjoys beach break before WNBA return

On Thursday, Cunningham posted a series of photos from the Hotel del Coronado in California, capturing a laid-back beach day.

The pictures showed her relaxing in a swimsuit and black cowboy hat, enjoying the calm before the season begins.

She captioned the post: “Work hard, beach harder @mondayswimwear.”

The post quickly generated a response from fans and followers, including lighthearted and supportive comments from family and friends.

“My motto too,” one user replied.

“Cutie sis,” wrote Cunningham‘s sister.

Another fan added, “Sophie buckets this season coming soon,” while others expressed excitement about her move to Indiana and her expected impact on the court.

Cunningham focused on adapting to her new role

Although enjoying the final days of her offseason, Cunningham has made clear that her focus is firmly on basketball.

Speaking to The Spun last week, she explained how adjusting to a new team environment is part of being a professional.

“When you’re a pro, it’s all about adjusting. If you can’t do that, you won’t be in the league for long,” Cunningham said.

“It’s all about building that chemistry and rhythm. Once you find that, you’ll know your role. When you have people willing to put their egos aside, I think it’s quite easy to settle in. I can shoot the ball well, but what I need to do is work hard and be myself.”

Alongside her reputation for energy and effort on the court, Cunningham is also well-known for her bold pregame fashion choices, regularly turning heads with her tunnel outfits during her time in Phoenix.

With her new chapter in Indiana about to begin, fans will be watching both her performances and her style as the Fever open their season on May 17 against the Chicago Sky.
