Shohei Ohtani entered Friday’s game on October 17, 2024, batting 3-for-29 for a .103 average since the start of the NLDS. He had not hit a home run since his two-homer game in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series on September 30. Ohtani became just the seventh player in MLB history – and the first Dodger – to have two multi-homer games in the same postseason. Ohtani ended that drought with his third leadoff home run in the postseason in his career. That ties him with Derek Jeter and Jimmy Rollins for the second most in MLB history, behind only Kyle Schwarber (five).
