You know how it feels like Shohei Ohtani does something insane every single night? Well, he’s at it again, and this time he’s blown past a record nobody even thought was possible.

We already knew he was in a league of his own after that crazy 50-homer, 50-steal season he put together. But just a few months later, the guy has somehow topped himself.

Last night against the Phillies, he’s on the mound dealing. He goes five scoreless innings and racks up five strikeouts. Then, a few hours later, he’s at the plate and absolutely crushes his 50th home run of the year. By doing both in the same season, he became the first player EVER to hit 50 homers and also strike out 50 batters as a pitcher. Not even the legendary Babe Ruth pulled that off.

The Milestone That Redefines Two-Way Greatness

The Dodgers ended up losing the game, but honestly, who even cares? That feels totally secondary to what we just saw. His manager, Dave Roberts, put it perfectly after the game, saying something like, “We’re watching baseball evolve right in front of us.”He’s not wrong.

The wildest part is he’s doing all this after having two major arm surgeries. On the mound, he’s been solid with a great ERA. But at the plate? He’s just ridiculous. He’s leading the leaguein everything-runs scored, slugging, you name it. He’s the obvious frontrunner for another MVP, which would be his fourth.

People always bring up Babe Ruth when talking about two-way players, but even experts are saying Ohtani is now doing things Ruth never did. He’s not just matching the legend; he’s creating a whole new standard.

At this point, the question isn’t really if he’s the best player right now. It’s starting to feel like we’re watching the greatest of all time, period.
