Shedeur Sanders became the great spark for the Cleveland Browns after a rocky start to the season. Joe Flacco began as the starter, but he was later benched to give way to rookie Dillon Gabriel, who did little to lift the team. Then the son of Coach Prime arrived and gave the franchise a fresh breath of life.

Although he also failed to be as effective as expected, he injected a different dynamic into the Browns, who at least seemed to enjoy the game week after week.

Shedeur finished with modest numbers; however, he emerged as a source of hope for the team.

  • 2-8 record
  • 120-212 completions
  • 1,400 yards
  • 7 touchdowns
  • 10 interceptions
  • 169 rushing yards
  • 1 rushing touchdown
  • Selected to the Pro Bowl

Shedeur Sanders loses a key ally in the Browns’ offense

The Browns will no longer count on offensive lineman Wyatt Teller. The player arrived in Cleveland after spending only two years with the Buffalo Bills, who had selected him in the 2018 draft out of Virginia Tech.

In 2020, the guard was traded to the Browns, where he managed to establish himself and become the starter at his position, showcasing all of his talent. There, he earned second-team All-Pro honors and was selected to the Pro Bowl on three occasions.

Now, for the upcoming season, Teller has decided it is time for new horizons, and he will be testing his luck in unrestricted free agency. His path with the Browns has come to an end.

I wish things were different and this is hard to put into words.”… “When Buffalo traded me to Cleveland seven years ago, I never could have imagined how much this city would mean to me. Ultimately, the Browns took a chance on me that changed the trajectory of my life forever… While we are excited and look forward to what the future holds, Cleveland will always have a special place in our hearts. As always…Go Browns!

Cleveland must now look for a replacement, either in free agency or through the draft, to protect its quarterback.
