Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and husband to tennis legend Serena Williams, has embraced fatherhood with warmth and creativity.
Known as “Papa Pancakes,” he has transformed Sunday mornings into a cherished family ritual, flipping colorful, whimsical pancakes for his daughter, Olympia.
This tradition, rooted in his own childhood, has evolved as Olympia has grown, with her now taking the lead in the kitchen, especially with the arrival of her younger sister, Adira.
In fact, Olympia even went so far as to branch out from just pancakes. In one of Ohanian’s recent posts, he showed his daughter roasting marshmallows over a bonfire.
“Ready ready with that marshmallow,” he captioned the post, showing that the family are soaking up their time together over the weekend.
Blend of traditions and faith
While Ohanian brings fun and creativity to their family life, Serena Williams anchors their home with spiritual depth. Raised as a Jehovah’s Witness, Serena has instilled her faith’s values in their family life.
This includes forgoing traditional celebrations like birthdays and holidays, as such observances are not part of their religious practices. Serena has expressed that being a Jehovah’s Witness is important to her, and she has been working to practice it more actively.
Ohanian, who did not grow up attending church, has been receptive to these practices, supporting Serena’s beliefs and ensuring a respectful and harmonious family environment.
Their approach to parenting reflects a blend of love, respect, and shared values. Serena has emphasized the importance of teaching their daughters about boundaries and faith, aiming to provide them with a strong moral foundation. Despite their differing religious backgrounds, the couple has found common ground in raising their children with love, discipline, and spiritual guidance.
In essence, the Williams-Ohanian family exemplifies how diverse traditions and beliefs can coexist harmoniously, creating a nurturing environment where faith, fun, and family values thrive together.
