Fleury joins Seattle after a seven-year tenure with the San Francisco 49ers, where he most recently served as tight ends coach and co-run game coordinator. His progression through the 49ers’ coaching ranks was rapid and multifaceted.
He began in 2019 as a defensive quality control coach, before moving to the offensive side in 2020 as an offensive quality control coach. By 2022, he was promoted to tight ends coach, and in 2025 he added the run game coordinator title, gaining broader responsibilities and influence in shaping San Francisco’s offensive identity.
His familiarity with quarterback Sam Darnold, who served as the 49ers’ backup in 2023, also gives Fleury a foundation for a smooth transition in Seattle’s offense.
Though Darnold has limited experience under Fleury, the shared time in San Francisco provides a potential advantage in understanding tendencies and communication within a pro-style system.
