Despite her growing influence as an entrepreneur and media personality, Savannah James has admitted she still wrestles with the fear and discomfort that come with being celebrated.

While her words may surprise fans who view her as a polished public figure, Savannah‘s self-reflection offers an honest look at how deeply personal insecurities can linger.

“This is a conversation that we had last year. And it’s so interesting ’cause I went into that birthday coming off of our conversations like so happy, so joyful, so receiving. It was amazing. Amazing. I remember, and then it was great. And then somewhere along the line, I started to contract again. Go back into that like state of fear, shame, not being as confident,” Savannah said during her podcast with co-host April McDaniel.

Her comments were in reference to her previous birthday, where she had hoped to enjoy the celebration more than she usually does. And for a brief moment, it seemed like she had succeeded. But the moment didn’t last.

Savannah James says celebrating herself is still difficult

Even when discussing something as seemingly joyful as a birthday, Savannah confessed she’d rather be behind the scenes.

It’s a theme she’s brought up before. In past conversations, she’s expressed a preference for focusing on others’ milestones instead of her own. Celebrating herself just doesn’t come naturally.

She’s even said she would be completely fine spending her birthday alone, a sentiment that feels starkly at odds with the glamorous public persona many associate with her.

Still, there is one notable exception to her desire for solitude: her daughter Zhuri. The mother-daughter bond remains a source of comfort and joy, and Savannah recently shared a special moment with Zhuri that helped lift her spirits during a challenging emotional time.

What makes Savannah‘s admission resonate is the reminder that no amount of fame, wealth, or success can completely erase personal doubt. In a culture that often demands public figures to be flawless, her openness stands out as both refreshing and courageous.

She may co-host one of the most talked-about podcasts and lead a growing beauty brand, but at her core, Savannah James is still working through the same challenges many people face, learning how to celebrate herself without guilt, shame, or fear.
