Tonight, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz returns to the ring in San Diego for a fight that comes at an important point in his career. Standing across from him will be Néstor Bravo, a 32-year-old Puerto Rican who is not coming in expecting to give Cruz an easy night.

The fight will be held at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, which can accommodate more than 16,000 people.
Bravo enters the fight with a record of 24 wins, 17 by knockout, and just one loss. The Puerto Rican has a style that could force Cruz to work in different ways. He can fight from a distance, but he also does not tend to back down when it is time to trade punches.
For Cruz, this will also be the first defense of the interim championship he captured. So before thinking about any other name, there is one very specific task tonight: leave San Diego still holding the title.

Cruz is 28 years old, was born in Mexico City and stands just 5’4″, with a 63.4-inch reach. He needs little introduction in boxing to understand what it means to step into the ring against a bigger opponent or someone whose name can attract all the attention.
His career has already taken him to major stages, and conversations about what comes next are beginning to open new possibilities.
Ryan García appears on the horizon, but there is no fight yet
Ryan García is one of the names that has started to be linked to Cruz, although there is still no confirmed fight between them.
García, also 28, is from Victorville, California, stands 5’10” and has a 70.1-inch reach. He currently competes at 147 pounds and, after becoming the WBC welterweight champion by knocking out Conor Benn, is looking to stay active ahead of a potential fight against Teófimo López in 2027.
With that schedule in mind, Cruz has started to emerge as an option for García’s next bout.
For now, however, there is no official agreement between them.
What is clear is that “Pitbull” already knows what it means to be part of major fight nights.
In 2021, Cruz accepted a fight against Gervonta “Tank” Davis with little time to prepare. The Mexican went the full 12 rounds and lost by decision, but the fight put him in the ring with one of the biggest names of his generation.
Another championship opportunity came after that.
In 2022, Cruz knocked out Yuriorkis Gamboa in five rounds. Gamboa was a former unified world champion and Olympic gold medalist. Two years later, in 2024, Cruz defeated Rolando “Rolly” Romero by eighth-round TKO to win the WBA super lightweight world title.
That same year, he also had a difficult night against Jose “El Rayo” Valenzuela, losing by split decision in a closely contested fight.
