In the preliminary fights of the “PACQUIAO vs BARRIOS” card, it has been announced that the fight between Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Angel “Tashiro” Fierro will not take place because Tashiro felt unwell trying to make weight for the fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) interim super lightweight title. This fight would have been the penultimate fight before the main event with the long-awaited return of Manny Pacquiao after four years away from the ring.
The fight between “Pitbull vs Tashiro” would be the rematch between the two fighters, after their first battle last February where Cruz won by unanimous decision. The second episode was scheduled for Saturday, July 19. However, due to the discomfort that Fierro has presented, it has been determined to cancel the fight between Mexicans and it is expected that in the next few hours this situation can be resolved to keep the entire card complete.
Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the World Boxing Commission, told ESPN that Omar Salcido could be the emerging boxer to fulfill the number of fights for the Manny Pacquiao card. If conditions are met, Salcido will arrive at the MGM Arena in Las Vegas with just over 24 hours of preparation to face Pitbull. His last fight was against Andy Cruz, with whom he lost on points and left his credentials at 20-2 with 14 KOs. Finally, there will be a solution shortly and all after ‘Tashiro’s’ health problem
However, Fierro’s situation is not to be taken lightly. Initial reports for Ring magazine mentioned that “Tashiro” Fierro (23-3-2, 18 KOs) was hospitalized after experiencing health problems during the final stages of his weight reduction. Salcido was originally scheduled to fight Brian Gallegos on the non-televised undercard of the Pacquiao-Barrios PPV, but will move to the main card to face Cruz.
What time does the PACQUIAO vs BARRIOS fight start?
The preliminary fights start at 5:30 PM Eastern Time in the United States, with four preliminary bouts setting the stage for the main event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where they have set up an audio and video production worthy of a show of this nature.
Meanwhile, the main fight will start at 23:00 ET where the public will experience a new story in the career of Manny Pacquiao in his return to professional boxing at 46 years of age.
