It’s been a few days now since one of the oddest and most sensational moments in recent MLB times. During a game between the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies at LoanDepot Park, a character dubbed “Phillies Karen” stole a ball from the father of a child who retrieved the ball for his son. Making matters worse is that it was Philadelphia on Philadelphia crime.
In the aftermath, memes regarding “Phillies Karen” have dominated the Internet. Memes aren’t enough for fans, though, as many have been incessantly trying to find the woman’s true identity. Her actions really struck a nerve with just about everyone, but the main culprit, Drew Feltwell, is being the bigger man.
Drew Feltwell pleads fans to stop harassing Phillies Karen
Feltwell is the one who handed over the ball to the enraged woman, and he appeared on national TV to make a plea to fans: he doesn’t want to cause any more trouble for Phillies Karen. While speaking to USA Today Sports early this week, Feltwell asked fans to stop attempting to harass her.
Please don’t do anything to that lady. Leave it alone. You know, somebody knows her and can talk to her, that’s different. But God, I don’t want people breaking in their house and stuff like that. The internet already messed her up pretty good.
Feltwell is taking the high road, although he practically admits he’s seen a lot of the stuff on social media that has been aimed directly at her.
He seems to fear for her safety, though, which goes to show his heart is in the right place. It takes a certain type of personality to send that kind of message after such a bad experience.
