Oneil Cruz got a hit in four at-bats against the Reading Fightin Phils, the Philadelphia Phillies’ Double-A affiliate at Peoples Natural Gas Park. He hit a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the fifth inning and then scored on a run-scoring single by shortstop Konnor Griffin in the 4-2 win.
In addition, Ben Cherington, general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, said of Oneil Cruz: “Unless something unforeseen happens, I suspect he’ll fly to St. Louis tomorrow and just check him out there. Our hope is that he’s very close.”
