Paul Skenes may have wrapped up a dominant season on the mound, but his offseason trip to Europe came with some unexpected challenges, mostly involving door frames.

The 23-year-old Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, who stands at 6-foot-6, is currently traveling with girlfriend Olivia “Livvy” Dunne. In a TikTok video shared by Dunne over the weekend, fans got a behind-the-scenes look at their European vacation, and the height-related mishaps that followed.

“POV: your bf is 6’7 in Europe,” she captioned the video, showing Skenes repeatedly ducking under low ceilings, and even smacking his head at one point.

“That last one hurt AF,” one viewer commented. Another added, “Watch your head king.”

A standout year followed by time to unwind

After a historic second season with the Pirates, Skenes has earned a break. The former No. 1 overall draft pick finished 2024 with a 1.97 ERA, making him the first qualified pitcher aged 23 or younger to post an ERA under 2.00 since Dwight Golden in 1985.

Reflecting on his performance, Skenes said in September: “It’s cool. I don’t come into the year with any numerical goals or anything like that, any stat goals, but it’s a product of doing what you’re supposed to – probably could have been lower, probably could have been higher, whatever. … Pretty cool.”

During the offseason, he and Dunne have been traveling and celebrating milestones together, including Dunne‘s 23rd birthday in New York.

The former LSU gymnast and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model has continued to share their adventures online. In another recent TikTok, Dunne showed off her skills by doing a headstand on a paddle board in the Mediterranean, clapping back at critics with the caption: “Never have seen my haters doing a headstand on a paddle board in the Mediterranean. I said what I said.”
