The painful memory of Cody Parkey’s missed 43-yard field goal against the Philadelphia Eagles still stings for the Chicago Bears, who were eliminated in the Wild Card round. Years later, history repeated itself when the Bears fell just short of the NFC Championship, losing heartbreakingly to the Los Angeles Rams.

When it seemed the Chicago Bears were on their way to victory, Caleb Williams threw a pass that was intercepted by Kam Curl, giving the Rams the field position that eventually led to Harrison Mevis’ 42-yard field goal, putting the Rams one step away from the Super Bowl, where they will have to face the Seattle Seahawks.

Caleb Williams once again experienced highs and lows. He had key moments, including the incredible touchdown pass that tied the game; however, turnovers proved costly, as the Bears quarterback threw three interceptions, the last of which in overtime was devastating.

Patrick Mahomes makes his presence known on Social Media

A dramatic moment came at the end of the fourth quarter when Caleb Williams took the snap under intense pressure from the Rams’ defense. He had to dodge multiple defenders, retreating more than 20 yards from the line of scrimmage, and still managed to throw a pass. Cole Kmet caught it for a touchdown, sending the game into overtime.

That play caused social media to explode. One notable reaction came from Patrick Mahomes, who posted on his X account: “awesome”, in reference to Williams’ incredible pass-which, unfortunately, did little in the end, as the Chicago Bears were eliminated.

There’s no doubt Patrick Mahomes was missed in the playoffs. It was a difficult season for the Kansas City Chiefs, and especially for the quarterback, who on December 14 suffered two ligament tears in his knee against the Chargers. He is currently in rehabilitation, watching the playoffs comfortably from home.

Once again, the season ends for the Chicago Bears, although this year they made progress under Ben Johnson, who debuted as the team’s head coach. They came just one step away from competing for the NFC title.
