Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, took center stage on Wednesday during a team photoshoot and introductory event with the Dallas Wings – and it didn’t take long for fans to crown her as the future of the franchise.

Sporting a slick back bun instead of her signature braid, Bueckers posed for photos in her new Wings jersey in a shoot that quickly made the rounds on social media.

Her confident look and poised demeanor had fans fired up about what’s to come in the WNBA’s next chapter.

“A star is born in Dallas. PB5 already looks like the face of the franchise…. swagger, skill, and that killer instinct,” a user commented.

Another simply wrote: “Aura.”

From UConn dominance to Dallas promise

The excitement surrounding Bueckers is nothing new. The former UConn standout was widely regarded as a generational talent even before her college career began.

Despite battling injuries during her time in Storrs, she led the Huskies to multiple Final Fours and capped off her collegiate run by delivering a 2025 NCAA championship – her crowning achievement before declaring for the WNBA Draft.

The Dallas Wings wasted no time selecting her with the top pick, hoping she can anchor their young roster and elevate the team into title contention. The franchise has long been seen as brimming with potential but has struggled to break through in the playoffs.

With Bueckers now in the fold, there’s renewed optimism that the Wings have finally found the superstar capable of taking them to the next level.

The draft class as a whole was deep and loaded with talent. Dallas also picked up Aziaha James (No. 12, NC State), Madison Scott (No. 14, Ole Miss), JJ Quinerly (No. 27, West Virginia), and Aaronette Vonleh (No. 31, Baylor).

But it’s Bueckers who commands the spotlight – and the fans already see her as the key to the team’s resurgence.
