Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers have been known since their games and exploits at UConn. The Huskies’ powerhouse duo has had incredible accomplishments, but that’s not the reason they’re stealing the spotlight.
Their fans, who have speculated and analyzed their interviews, gestures and social media posts, believe that there is more than just a simple friendship between them.
During their time at UConn, they both recorded and posted several videos on TikTok together: from dances to celebrations. Moreover, they seemed not to take off for a second. They did everything together.
In 2019, Fudd tore her ACL and Bueckers was there to support her. Some time later, he moved heaven and earth to get Azzi to commit to the University of Connecticut as she had. And so it was.
Both ended up tearing their ACLs, so for almost two years they didn’t play together, but they did win after a 3-year drought the NCAA National Championship last season.
In addition, they attended the 2023 WNBA Draft to support Aliyah Boston and Nika Muhl. And of course Fudd went along and was present when Bueckers was selected as the number one overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft. And she was the first person she hugged.
Over the years, however, her social media posts have been a talking point.
The publications that make fans doubt
Recently, on May 25, they posted a parody video on Tik Tok about a dinner party. “Princess treatment every time I’m with her #spoiled @Paige Bueckers,” Azzi wrote along with an angel emoji and a pink heart.
Even Charlotte Wilder and Madeline Hill of “The Sports Gossip” podcast, chimed in, “That’s not a trend you do with your bestie…especially the use of emojis. Those emojis are not platonic,” they pointed out.
One fan discovered a series of videos in which they appear to be “replying” to each other via TikTok. “I be thinking about azzi in this tiktok at least 100 times a day…I am no better than paige bueckers,” Jo wrote on X.
Bueckers shared a recording of herself lip-syncing with artist Dave’s Starlight: “I like mine obsessed, clingy. If she don’t miss me, miss me. If she don’t miss me, history. If she don’t miss me, it’s a mystery“, says the lyrics he “sings”.
Moments later, Azzi posts a similar video with the song “Letter from Houston” by Rod Wave: “I wrote this song for you, so you should pay attention. I was just staring at the ceiling and got in my feelings. Reminiscing about us fighting f***, and chilling. Right now, I’m riding through Memphis, passing through the city. I’m with my n***, but I miss you girl, don’t get it twisted. And I cannot wait ’til I see you, hug you, and kiss you”.
However, some time later, Fudd sported a necklace with a heart charm and Bueckers’ jersey number in another of her TikTok videos.
The most recent post that has made her followers speculate was when on June 21, Fudd shared a story on her official Instagram account of her and her hairstylist doing their hair. “The absolute best @haylesloganhair” she wrote. However, what stole the fans’ gaze was her cell phone case. “Paige Bueckers girlfriend” it read.
Of course, this has made fans connect dots and deduce that they are a couple. However, they have not made it known that they are dating. What do you think?
