Troy Aikman‘s youthful energy has become a recurring talking point among NFL fans who follow his weekly appearances on ESPN. The Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboy legend knows the speculation well, but insists there is no magic behind his look.

His routine, he says, is simply the result of years spent refining a comprehensive approach to wellness.

Aikman opened up, revealing that he’s “gotten really into health and wellness and biohacking” over the past five years, in a recent interview with Front Office Sports.

He explained that his wellness formula includes hydration, daily red light therapy, hyperbaric sessions, sauna, cold plunges and intermittent fasting.

He also embraces “extremely hot yoga” in 100 degree infrared rooms, something he practices three times a week during the offseason and twice weekly during the NFL season.

Much of his renewed focus stems from the lingering effects of his NFL career. The former quarterback battled back issues and joint stiffness that influenced how he trains today.

Aikman‘s trainers outlined how he shifted toward dumbbell-based strength work, mobility-focused routines, and a core-heavy program designed to avoid overloading his spine.

Aikman has credited this change with giving him more stability and freedom of movement in his late fifties than he expected.

How Aikman rebuilt his lifestyle

Clean nutrition has become just as important as training. In speaking with Mindbodygreen, Aikman‘s opened up about how his dietary approach centers on lean proteins like salmon, grass-fed beef, and pasture-raised chicken, along with vegetables and low-sugar meals.

He avoids fried foods and tries to keep his eating structure intact even while traveling for Monday Night Football assignments. His intermittent fasting schedule usually places his first meal around noon, which he says helps maintain energy and focus.

Aikman also practices meditation regularly, something he has been doing for close to a decade.

He has described mindfulness as a foundational part of his emotional stability and a tool that improves clarity.

Recovery tools such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy and infrared red light sessions also play a daily role for Aikman.

These methods have become common among current athletes, yet Aikman adopted them only within the last several years as part of his overhaul.

His broader lifestyle philosophy extends into his business ventures as well. Aikman‘s beer company, EIGHT, was built around organic grains and health-conscious brewing principles.

Aikman has explained that he wanted the product to reflect the same clean, disciplined lifestyle he follows.

Aikman summed up his approach simply, saying, “I think I have no secret. I’ve worked out my whole life, so I think that’s a big part of it.” He explained that he feels healthier today, both physically and mentally, than he did a decade ago.

Aikman‘s message remains consistent. His appearance is not the product of a hidden formula or a single therapy. It is the cumulative effect of disciplined habits, steady evolution, and a commitment to staying mentally and physically engaged well into his fifties.

His routine reflects the same mindset that once carried him to three Super Bowl titles: consistent work, done with purpose, yields lasting results.
