Five years after the tragic death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, the Bryant family is looking to move forward. And Natalia, the eldest of his daughters, took a huge step in which she paid tribute to him.

The 22-year-old graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California on May 16 and although her father and little sister couldn’t be there to watch her accept her diploma, her family and the Lakers’ family was there.

Vanessa Bryant, Natalia’s mother, shared on her official Instagram account a video in which you can see how the young girl receives her diploma in the hands of someone very special: Jeanie Buss, owner of the Lakers.

“Legacy @nataliabryant ~thank you @jeaniebuss for making this milestone even more special. #LakersFamily #USCGRAD #CumLaude” wrote Vanessa in her post, thanking Buss for the gesture Buss had with her daughter at such an important moment. In the post, Natalia also thanked Jeanie.

Natalia’s tribute to her father

In the video shared by Natalia’s mother, you can also see details of the young girl’s outfit, especially her graduation sash. On it, she had written “Thank you, Mom and Dad” accompanied by the logo of her father’s sheath in the upper left corner, inspired by a samurai sword.

Kobe had explained that the sword represents “raw talent” and the sheath is “the package that contains it: everything you go through, your calluses and your baggage, what you learn” said the NBA legend for Esquire in 2014.

Undoubtedly, a detail that reflects that her father is still by her side and accompanies her in every step.
