Myles Garrett has issued a sharp response to comments made by Detroit Lions offensive coordinator John Morton ahead of the teams’ Week 4 meeting with the Cleveland Browns in the 2025/26 NFL season.
The Browns enter Sunday’s clash on September 28 on the back of one of their most impressive victories in recent memory, a 17-10 win over the Green Bay Packers, who are tipped to be Super Bowl contenders.
It was a night in which the defense held Jordan Love to one of his worst performances of the year as the team allowed just 10 points, and repeatedly forced Love into hurried throws and sacks, underscoring their reputation as one of the league’s most complete units.
And Garrett, widely regarded as one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers of his generation, once again proved decisive in that contest as he proved to be a nightmare for the 26-year-old QB earning $220m.
Garrett’s big test after fine start
He has already been central to limiting some of the league’s top running backs this season. Derrick Henry was held to 23 rushing yards, while Josh Jacobs managed just 30 yards on 16 carries, further highlighting the Browns’ dominance against the run.
But a big test will come on Sunday when Cleveland face off against the Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, and Morton backs Detroit’s running backs to have the edge.
“I don’t think they’ve seen a run game like ours yet,” Morton said ahead of the clash, a comment that Garrett wasn’t best pleased with as he wasted no time firing back.
“He’s entitled to his opinion. He hasn’t seen a beast of a front like ours. We have the privilege to see who’s right,” Myles, who is an All-Pro, said.
Browns vs Lions: Where to watch Week 4 clash between Cleveland and Detroit
The Week 4 meeting at Ford Field is set to draw significant attention as two of the NFL’s most physical teams collide.
Cleveland and Detroit do not face each other often – their last meeting came in 2021, when the Browns defeated a winless Lions side. Since then, both franchises have undergone dramatic transformations.
Dan Campbell’s Lions have emerged as one of the NFC’s most formidable outfits, powered by an aggressive offensive line and a balanced attack that has allowed them to challenge even the toughest defenses.
Who will have the last laugh? Will it be Morton proving his running backs truly are an unstoppable force or will it be Garrett and the Browns’ defense standing tall as an immovable object?
Kickoff between the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions is scheduled for 13:00 ET/10:00 PT, with the game available on FOX Sports.
