The Major League Baseball postseason enters its second phase with the eagerly awaited Division Series

This round pits the best teams from each league against each other in a best-of-five series, under a 2-2-1 format: the first two games and the fifth (if necessary) are played at the home of the team with the better regular-season record. The winners advance to the Championship Series, moving one step closer to the World Series.

Division Series Format

Unlike the Wild Card Round, which is played as a best-of-three series, the Division Series is played as a best-of-five series. The team with the better record starts with home-field advantage, playing Games 1 and 2 at home, Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) away, and Game 5 (if necessary) at home again. This format seeks to reward regular-season performance and maintain competitiveness in each matchup.
