It all began as an idea that, frankly, seemed far-fetched. Yet after the exhibition bout with the legendary Mike Tyson, which exceeded expectations and delivered record-breaking viewership for Netflix, the streaming giant is now preparing Jake Paul’s next fight. His expected opponent: Gervonta Davis.

In September, the streaming platform -once known only for movies and series, but now a growing player in live sports, including its Christmas Day NFL broadcast last year, which will be repeated in 2025 – has discovered a new formula for success.

Next month, Netflix will air the highly anticipated fight between Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence Crawford in Las Vegas, an event that promises to be larger than ever. This time, the fight will be staged at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, underscoring the scale of the spectacle.

With 300 million subscribers worldwide, Netflix continues to secure loyalty from its audience, and events like these only strengthen its appeal. The platform’s variety keeps users constantly engaged with its content.

Jake Paul’s new fight

On November 14, Paul will return to the ring for his next exhibition bout, this time against Davis. The fight is scheduled to take place at State Farm Arena, nearly a year after Paul’s headlin, grabbing clash with Tyson.

Initial reports on Wednesday suggested the fight would be held on August 15. However, scheduling conflicts forced a change, and the date has now been set for November 14.

Paul enters the fight with a professional record of 12-1. His last victory came against Julio César Chávez Jr. via unanimous decision in California. Initially, there were expectations that Paul would face former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, but broadcast issues prevented that matchup from materializing.

Meanwhile, Davis had originally been expected to face Lamont Roach in August, a rematch following their controversial draw in March that raised questions due to Davis’s knee injury. The bout, however, was scrapped because Davis was due in court in July over a misdemeanor assault and domestic violence charge. His girlfriend had accused him of slapping her and striking her on the back of the head on June 15.

That charge was dismissed just last week after the alleged victim withdrew her complaint. In response, Roach stated he was leaving the matter in the past, as Davis’ camp showed no interest in an immediate rematch.

The November bout against Paul will be a test for Davis to determine whether Paul can truly be regarded as a legitimate boxer. Davis’s extensive professional experience could give him a clear advantage, though he will step into the ring at a notable disadvantage in weight, reportedly 50 pounds lighter than Paul.

Skepticism remains strong about whether Jake Paul can genuinely be considered a professional-caliber boxer. While he has displayed determination and flashes of skill in previous fights, critics note that he has yet to face an opponent with true knockout power capable of pushing him to his limits in the ring.
