Alexia Putellas has reached a milestone that puts her alongside Lionel Messi in Barcelona history. With the latest league title, she now has 10 domestic championships with FC Barcelona, matching the number Messi won during his time at the club.

Her titles date back to the early 2010s – 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15 – and continue through Barcelona’s current run of dominance, including the most recent seasons up to 2024/25.

A record built across two different eras

Messi’s 10 league titles came in La Liga between 2004/05 and 2018/19, during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. Putellas, meanwhile, has been a constant presence in the rise and consolidation of Barcelona Femení at the top of Liga F.

The numbers now place them level in one of the club’s most notable benchmarks, despite coming from different teams and competitions.

The next step is already in sight

The key difference is that Messi’s total is final, while Putellas remains active and competing for titles each season. Barcelona Femení continue to set the pace domestically, which keeps her in position to move past the record.

If the current trend holds, the next league title would take her to 11 and put her alone at the top of this category in Barcelona history.

Barcelona’s dominance in recent years has made that possibility realistic, with the team consistently finishing ahead of its domestic rivals and maintaining a strong core.

Putellas is now level with Messi, but the context around her situation points to something more – a record that may not stay shared for long.
