Tensions have mounted in the aftermath of former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez’s arrest in Indianapolis, an incident that ended with him hospitalized and facing serious charges.

In a newly public response, his ex and mother of their child, Erin Campaneris – aka Bobby T – offered a somber reaction to the developments, emphasizing concern for their son and noting that the spectacle does not surprise her.

Campaneris, 44, shares an eight-year-old son, Daniel, with Sanchez. She took to Instagram Stories to comment, writing: “I am aware of the serious criminal charges currently facing my son’s father, Mark Sanchez … My foremost priority has always been, and remains, our eight year old son, Daniel.

“I chose to remain silent publicly to protect Daniel … Now that everything is out in the open, my focus hasn’t changed. I have always been concerned for his safety and for what he Sanchez is exposed to. Sadly, none of this is surprising to me.”

Campaneris also acknowledged how she first learned of the confrontation: “Like everyone else, I learned of the horrific event through a news alert on my phone while sitting next to Daniel. I still know only what is publicly available.”

Her message closed with a reminder of her priorities: “At the end of the day, I’m simply a mama to a very sweet young boy doing my best to protect his peace.”

From family to legal fallout

The controversy began on October 4, when Sanchez – in Indianapolis to cover a Colts vs. Raiders game for Fox Sports – became involved in an altercation with 69-year-old truck driver, Perry Tole.

Authorities say the dispute stemmed from a disagreement over a parking spot. Court documents suggest Sanchez entered Tole’s vehicle without permission, then blocked and pushed him.

In the course of the confrontation, Tole sprayed Sanchez with pepper spray and ultimately stabbed him in what he claimed was self-defense. Sanchez was hospitalized, initially listed in critical condition, but later upgraded to stable.

Sanchez was arrested while in the hospital and subsequently charged with multiple offenses.

Originally booked on misdemeanor counts-including battery with injury, unauthorized vehicle entry, and public intoxication-prosecutors later upgraded one count to a felony battery involving serious bodily injury. The felony carries potential prison time of up to six years, as outlined by Marion County prosecutors.

Tole has also filed a civil lawsuit seeking damages from Sanchez and his employer, Fox Sports, alleging severe, lasting injuries.

Mark Sanchez issues update on his health

In his own brief public comments after his release, Sanchez expressed gratitude toward the medical staff who treated him.

“Right now I’m just focused on my recovery,” he told reporters. “I just wanted to thank the first responders … Dr. [Lindsey] Mossler … She saved my life, so I’m grateful for that.”

He added that he was “recovering slowly” and declined to address the specific allegations.

As Sanchez’s legal process unfolds-next court appearance is scheduled for November 5-his ex’s response injects a personal dimension into an intriguing but unsavory episode.
