After a 97-115 loss at Staples Center to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of the playoffs, Los Angeles Lakers hope to improve in the next game.
Despite Luka Doncic‘s 37 points and LeBron James‘ 19, they were not enough to overcome the Wolves’ 21 three-pointers. In addition, a Lakers legend reacted furiously to this result.
Magic Johnson used his official X account and took aim at coach JJ Redick and his responsibility for the crushing defeat:
Coach JJ Redick did a great job all season, but he didn’t get it right in the first game… The Lakers stalled on offense, played too much one-on-one, and he didn’t make the necessary adjustments.
Furthermore, the star let his discontent show, adding:
Tonight was one of the worst performances by the Lakers this season. They were off, lacked energy, and played like it was a regular season game. The Timberwolves are a great matchup for the Lakers.
