When you’re on the WNBA’s Orange Carpet, questions get fun fast – especially when it comes to mixing basketball with reality TV.
During Thursday night’s event, Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull didn’t miss a beat when asked which WNBA player would go viral if they joined Love Island. No hesitation. No overthinking. Her answer? Teammate Sophie Cunningham.
“I’m going to say my teammate Sophie,” Hull said with a smile.“I think she’d have a great time.”
It’s not hard to imagine. Cunningham, who’s playing her first season in Indiana after moving over from Phoenix, has brought both fire and flair to the Fever’s locker room. She’s averaging 6.8 points and 4.1 rebounds in 18 appearances – and more importantly, has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most outspoken and energetic personalities on the squad.
From Hardwood to Heartthrob TV?
Hull’s pick wasn’t the only one to spark laughs – Sabrina Ionescu chose Jonquel Jones, Sonia Citron went with Shakira Austin. But Hull’s reasoning stuck with fans: it’s not just about going viral, it’s about who would thrive in the drama, the banter, and the camera time.
And apparently, Sophie’s got the range.
Meanwhile, Cunningham’s impact hasn’t gone unnoticed by her peers. Courtney Williams, who was live streaming from the Orange Carpet, stopped mid-broadcast to defend her new Fever teammate. “All my mods – if anyone says anything negative about Sophie, ban them. Right now,” she said. “We in Indiana, man. Ain’t nothing but love.”
Natisha Hiedeman backed her up too. The Lynx guard just lost to the Fever in the Commissioner’s Cup, but still had praise for Cunningham – a sign of how much respect Sophie’s earned across the league.
With Caitlin Clark drawing national headlines, it’s easy to forget the other personalities that make the Fever tick. But thanks to Lexie Hull’s playful callout, Sophie Cunningham may have just found her next fan base – and possibly, her next casting call.
