The end of the NBA season is near, and we’re getting close to a playoff run that promises to be thrilling. The rise of the Los Angeles Lakers has been impressive, and they are now clear contenders in the Western Conference.

The beginning of the season wasn’t great for the Lakers they started with a 12-11 record and were sitting at the 10th spot in the Western Conference. However, they’ve turned things around, and with a 48-30 record, they now hold a privileged position as strong contenders.

On the other hand, Luka Doncic has had his ups and downs as a new member of the Lakers, but he’s been finding his rhythm in recent games ahead of the playoffs. In his last game against the Thunder, he scored 30 points.

The Lakers might pursue a trade for Nikola Jokic

The Denver Nuggets, who are just one spot below the Lakers in the Western Conference, shocked everyone by firing head coach Mike Malone. Minutes after that news, it was reported that general manager Calvin Booth would also be leaving the team.

Something serious must have happened within the organization, as the team is on its way to the playoffs-and a coaching change might not sit well with the team’s star, Nikola Jokic, who reportedly wouldn’t mind the idea of joining the Lakers.

At the moment, betting odds heavily favor the Lakers if Nikola Jokic were to become available for a trade. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, a potential trade proposal between the Nuggets and Lakers has been floated.

The Lakers would send Austin Reaves, Dorian Finney-Smith, Dalton Knecht, and Rui Hachimura to the Nuggets in exchange for Joki. While this would be a very difficult trade to pull off, the NBA has already shocked fans this season with the trade that sent Doni to the Lakers from the Dallas Mavericks-so another wild move isn’t off the table.

Plus, this would be another weapon for LeBron James, who is still chasing his second title as a Laker.
