The family of Ray Lewis is mourning for the second time in less than two years. Shenandoah University announced today the death of Keyshawn Wilder, nephew of the legendary Baltimore Ravens linebacker.
In 2023, the Lewis family endured the heartbreaking loss of Ray Lewis III, son of the two-time Super Bowl champion, due to an accidental overdose. Now, Ray Lewis faces another devastating blow with the passing of one of his sister’s children.
Wilder briefly followed in his uncle’s footsteps, playing football at Shenandoah University before shifting his focus to academics. He pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration while serving as the defensive backs coach for the Shenandoah Hornets.
Tributes pour In for Wilder
“It is with deep sadness that Shenandoah Athletics announces the passing of beloved former student-athlete and assistant football coach Keyshawn Wilder,” read a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Wilder’s dedication to the Shenandoah football team was profound-both on and off the field.”
The university community quickly rallied to express condolences and share memories. One parent wrote on Facebook, “Very humble young man, and it was a great pleasure meeting him. He had a great impact on my son Matthew Cook during his freshman year in 2023.”
Cause of death remains unknown
As of now, neither the family nor the university has released details regarding Wilder’s cause of death or funeral arrangements. Media outlets report that the family has requested prayers and privacy during this difficult time.
Shenandoah University also offered counseling to those close to Wilder and joined in mourning: “We stand with his family, friends, and colleagues in solidarity, and we pray for the strength to bear this painful loss. May his soul rest in peace.”
