In about a week, the highly anticipated 2025 WNBA season will get underway. While most eyes will be waiting for the epic Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese matchup on May 17, three games will take place on opening night 24 hours before the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky play. The Atlanta Dream, Washington Mystics, Minnesota Lynx and Dallas Wings will get the party started.
The Wings will be a new favorite team for many, as Paige Bueckers is set to take the WNBA by storm. But after Bueckers and the other game conclude, an underrated storyline will emerge. Kelsey Plum will make her Los Angeles Sparks debut after spending her first seven seasons with the Las Vegas Aces franchise. Plum won two WNBA Championships with the Aces, so she brings a winning pedigree to a team that wants to get back to winning trophies.

It seemed to be a stretch of sorts, but that didn’t stop a ton of fans from asking, “what is she doing?“
Whatever Plum does before games, it seems to work. Plum has made three All-Star teams and has averaged over 17.8 points per game in each of her last three seasons. The Sparks are expecting more of that in 2025.
