Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez was interviewed by his own daughter Nicole on TV Azteca’s “Venga la Alegria Fin de Semana” program. In this interview, he was asked about his feelings about the situation his son (Julio Jr) is going through, who was arrested on July 2 in Los Angeles, California by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents due to links with the Sinaloa Cartel and an irregular status in his stay in the United States.
With a choked voice, the “Cesar del Boxeo” emphasized his faith and optimism that his son Julio will come out well from the legal situation he is going through with the northern neighbor. “I believe that God’s timing is perfect, sometimes we get desperate because we want everything to be resolved, especially when there are problems, and I hope in God that your brother is well and everything is fixed first God,” said the Mexican champion.
Drugs, one of the mistakes in Julio Cesar Chavez’s life
When asked in the interview by his own daughter what he would never do again in his life, Julio Cesar Chavez replied that he would never take drugs again. That was what destroyed him. It is worth mentioning that his son JC Chavez Jr. was admitted to the Rehabilitation Center for a drug addiction problem and from then on he was one of the elements where he had contact with the family of Chapo Guzman and is even accused of involvement with the Sinaloa Cartel
According to US authorities, the boxer was detained on an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his alleged involvement in organized crime and trafficking in firearms, ammunition and explosives. He is also considered an affiliate of the Sinaloa Cartel, a US-designated foreign terrorist organization.
Julio Cesar Chavez’s happiest moment
In an attempt to “cheer up” the interview in the face of questions about what his son Julio had gone through and a dark past with the Mexican champion, Nicole Chavez asked him what is his happiest moment. However, with his feelings “on edge”, “The Legend” once again did not contain his feelings and mentioned that the birth of his four children are the best moment that life has given him.
There is no doubt that the situation facing the Chavez family is very complex, and it is hoped that during the course of the week the legal and immigration situation in the United States can be resolved. It has been established that the arrest was aimed at deporting “Julito” to Mexico so that the Mexican authorities can give him the corresponding legal process before the charges of affiliation to the Sinaloa Cartel.
