Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens celebrated their second wedding anniversary on May 6, 2025, a day that holds deep emotional weight for both, and the Chicago Bears star made sure to mark it with an emotional message to his wife that touched her heart.
What made this year’s celebration particularly special was not the glamorous public appearances or the high-profile events leading up to it, but the quiet, meaningful gestures that marked the occasion.
The pair have been navigating their relationship largely long distance since tying the knot due to their scheduling conflicts in the NFL and Biles’ gymnastics career, that saw her somersault home to Olympic success in Paris in 2024.
Although the couple had just attended the 2025 Met Gala the night before in New York, Owens didn’t let the anniversary pass without a public tribute and he posted a striking photo of the two on Instagram to celebrate the couple.
The 28-year-old Simone wore an elegant white mini dress adorned with a red floral applique, paired with black heels and bold earrings, whilst the Bears’ safety stood beside her in a light blue zip-up jacket, white shirt, and black pants.
“Happy Anniversary to my queen,” Owens posted online, with his smile filled with admiration in the photo to which he later followed up with a second image and a message that struck a deeper emotional chord.
“Two years strong and a lifetime to go. Excited to see where life takes us next, baby,” Owens posted online.
Biles and Owens: A relationship tested by distance
Biles and Owens originally wed on April 22, 2023, in a civil ceremony in Houston, followed by a lavish celebration in Cabo San Lucas on May 6 of the same year in a dream wedding gathering.
But since, their marriage has faced the unique challenges of being long-distance almost from the beginning; something they’re managing to make work even though it isn’t particularly easy for them.
Shortly after their Cabo ceremony, Owens signed with the Green Bay Packers and relocated to Wisconsin, while Biles remained in Texas to continue her Olympic training. They became separated by 1264 miles.
“Right after Cabo, he went to Green Bay and signed, and two days later, he was up there, so it’s been different,” Biles said, as per EssentiallySports. “We really cherish those moments and make those memories.”
The couple remained committed and have supported each other through their packed NFL and gymnastics seasons. Even their long-awaited honeymoon was postponed for nearly two years-until February 2025, when they finally travelled to South Africa.
In the days leading up to their anniversary, the couple also attended the Kentucky Derby, where Biles performed the ceremonial Riders Up call in a rhinestone-covered lavender dress. She later posted a photo from the event with three heart emojis.
