The New York Giants have started the season terribly, following a catastrophic 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders. On paper, the Giants weren’t the favorites, but the situation is worrying because the offense didn’t score a single touchdown and looked weak and ineffective.

Russell Wilson played very poorly, showing only a few flashes, while the team’s star receiver, Malik Nabers, appeared frustrated for much of the game and even exchanged words with Head Coach Brian Daboll. Fans and analysts are starting to push for the era of Jaxson Dart as the Giants’ quarterback to begin.

There was a lot of hope for the Giants’ season opener, especially after their impressive preseason, where they won all three games and scored over 30 points in each. However, the start of the regular season brought them back to the reality they have been stuck in for many years.

Giants fans on X are calling for Jon Gruden as Head Coach

There is no doubt that Brian Daboll’s time as Head Coach of the New York Giants is limited. After the 2022 season, when he was named Head Coach of the Year for leading the Giants to the playoffs with a victory included, his project has collapsed dramatically. In the two seasons since that campaign, he has a combined record of 9 wins and 25 losses.

On social media, there is speculation about Jon Gruden becoming the next Head Coach of the New York Giants. X accounts like @Gruden2NYG and @GrudenToNYG have promoted this option, and fans have shown support, especially since Gruden has spoken highly of Jaxson Dart.

Jon Gruden mentioned last Monday that after Russell Wilson’s poor performance, it’s time to give the ball to Jaxson Dart: “Yesterday is the perfect indication to move on. It’s time to give Jaxson Dart the ball.”

Gruden has coached the Las Vegas Raiders twice (formerly Oakland Raiders) and also the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he won the Super Bowl in 2003. Overall, he has a regular-season record of 117 wins and 112 losses.
